The insurance crisis that first hit the HOA market continues its proliferation across the board, with many other homeowners now feeling the pinch in their homeowner insurance payments that are skyrocketing from storm damage adjustments. Local ABC affiliate Channel 5 ran a story this weekend after they queried homeowners about the pinch.
More than 300 people responded when we asked on Facebook who was seeing a mortgage payment increase of hundreds of dollars a month.“Homeowners insurance is going through the roof everywhere in the country,” said David Jamison, owner of Rainbow Mortgage, Inc.
The rising catcalls on this issue are particularly loud given that closings typically occur between April and August, so escrow payments are creating stomach acid when annual adjustments roll around.
“They’re getting these double whammies of property taxes and homeowners’ insurance that are causing their payments to go up at this time of year,” said Jamison.
