So what’s that old saying?

The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

The Minnesota Senate, along with those in the Minnesota House, have spoken, and they have decided that more legislation is what HOA Leaders need in order to do their volunteer jobs at properties across the land of 10,000 HOAs (give or take). SF 1750 has passed the Senate and House, and it’s off to the Governor for official signing into law. So on top of existing legislation, we have more legislation (1750), and even on top of that — more legislation (3622).

There seems to be a question on when the new 1750 is enacted as law (there was an argument about it on the floor of the Senate during the debate). It appears that the law will be effective Jan. 1 of 2027 but I’ve seen August 1 too. Checking.

What’s next? There will be myriad questions, concerns, anxiety and other complexities among board leaders. We are already planning to host a series of live webinars starting later this month to provide strong guidance and recommendations on how board leaders should comply and what they should do to get ready for the bill. We’ll have our partner, SJJ Law, with us to opine.

I did talk to the Star Tribune today who called me for comment. We’ll see what they publish, but my angle was to say I wasn’t surprised (anymore) at 1750’s passage and that it will cause some consternation among HOA Leaders until we can all get a handle on it.

Please watch for more information on this important series of webinars.
