We’ve concluded our Spring Startup Series for HOAs that run in our chapters from February to April, all designed to help HOA Leaders think about readying HOA properties for the growing season. Time flies, because here we are getting ready for the late spring and summer months.

The chapter programming in May will pivot to some weighty topics in which we all struggle as leaders, namely HOA insurance and property management. At all five of our chapters next month, we’ll be featuring three experts who will bring these topics to life.  Here’s the summaries of the presentations:

Insurance Trends and Real-World Scenarios. In this important presentation, Eric Skarnes, president of Insurance Warehouse and Adina Bergstrom, Chief Counsel for Gavnat, will present case studies on insurance claims that have occurred due to interior and exterior damage in HOAs. You’ll see the lifecycle of typical claims, learn about types of insurance needed, and understand the steps to take when damage occurs on your HOA property. Eric will also have updates on insurance trends affecting HOAs in today’s market.

Working Effectively with Your Property Management Company, and how to select the right partner for your association when considering a property management change.  This will be presented by Shaun Zavadsky, Vice President of FirstService Residential.

We’ll of course have any updates that are relevant related to HOA legislative updates, which are sure to be many given that the session expects to end by May 18. There’s likely a flurry of activity to happen in that arena as the session rushes to a close.
