June 29, 2026 | Mark Luis Foster

We have a lot going on as we prepare for the implementation of the so-called “HOA Bill of Rights,” passed into law by the Minnesota Governor in May with an effective date of Jan. 1.  We have a series of webinars that we are hosting with SJJ Law, starting on July 29, with the first one concentrating on covenants and rules related to the law. Two more are planned in August and September. We urge you to RSVP now for the July 29 live webinar — as slots are filling up fast. If you miss it, it is being recorded for playback purposes.

Also, this Wednesday I am recording two radio shows with Gene Sullivan, host of Where You Live on AM 1280 the Patriot. If you’ve ever listened to Gene’s weekly Saturday show, you know that he discusses a variety of HOA issues, including topics that impact us here in Minnesota. I’ve joined him a number of times to discuss HOA topics that affect board leaders in our network and beyond.

On this next visit with Gene, I’ll be joined by Matt Greenstein of the Greenstein Sellers law firm and a New Concepts property manager to discuss how the law will impact various areas of the HOA industry.  I’ll be taking the perspective of the board leader, given my experience as a current board member on a south metro HOA — and the experience I have with other board leaders across the metro from our network.

The shows will air consecutively on AM 1280 this Saturday, July 4, at 10 a.m. and on Saturday, July 11, at 10 a.m. You’ll want to mark your calendar to give them both a listen.  I will also try to post a link by Sunday in our weekly e-blast for those of you who want to listen to the playback.
