While we all wait with bated breath to see what our elected state officials try to do to us HOA Leaders via their legislative dreams, we do have some good news to report.  Community Associations Institute (CAI) sent an email to members that a federal House Resolution (HR425), designed to repeal the dreaded Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) of 2024, in its entirety is on its way for a House vote. All the data accumulated thereto will be deleted.

According to CAI:

CAI is thrilled to report that this bill was amended and approved by the House Financial Services Committee yesterday. The positive amendment adopted will not only have this bill fully repeal the CTA, but will also require FinCEN to delete data from BOI filings for Americans and entities that are not reporting companies within 90 days of the bill’s adoption.

Next step?

This bill will now be sent to the floor of the House of Representatives for consideration. We need you to continue to contact to your Representative to urge them to support H.R. 425 and to protect community association board members in private data and information in your state.

Good news all around. The CTA was legislation that was unnecessary, over the top and probably unconstitutional.  It seems to be in the rearview mirror, finally.
