We look forward to a wonderful Easter weekend in Minnesota. And no doubt many HOA boards are now preparing to do a walk-around on their property to look for damage done over the long winter months, if they haven’t done so already.
Below are the results of the most recently completed Pop Up Survey, something that we’ve been doing all year to find out various trends and issues that are generating from HOAs across the state. This is our fourth survey this year, which focused on HOA walk arounds by boards, and what they find, and who they go with. To those of you wondering how to get the results earlier, the only way is to attend our live chapter meetings during the month. We release the results here on the blog once all chapters are completed for the month, with the March chapters ending in Maple Grove on Tuesday of this week.
The charts we covered on this survey are below. The vast majority of responding HOAs reported that they do a walk-around of their property in the spring, with boards split between going alone as a board (27%), with a contractor (30%) or with a contractor and property manager (26%). Typical damage reportedly found during such walks include turf damage and bushes/shrubs, and variety of other surface related issues, like concrete damage or asphalt. Most HOAs rely on the minutes to inform residents of the damage, while some report that they send an email, newsletter or some other form of comm. Nearly 21% send no communications about the issue.
Interesting findings. We are doing another Pop Up Survey on storm damage suffered during Minnesota springs and summers, so we’ll have those findings during the April chapter meetings. See you then!
