It’s been an active month of chapter meetings and discussions around SF 1750, the so-called HOA “bill of rights” that was passed into law on May 12. The countdown clock to compliance is ticking, with the law becoming effective on January 1, 2027. We have much more to do to help interpret this law and put measures into effect to help all of us board members get into alignment with whatever our elected officials in Saint Paul were thinking.
Our sponsor SJJ Law, and law partners Finn Jacobsen and Aaron Brooksby joined me yesterday for a 90-minute presentation to unpack the bill and talk about ways boards can get ready for compliance.
With more than 200 people on the webinar, there were numerous questions, so many that we could not cover most of them in the time allotted. There were also a fair share of questions that didn’t relate to the bill but instead seemed focused on the normal course of board governance. But we tried our best to surface the best ones related to the new law for answers and discussion by the attorneys.
I’ve also posted the slides as a PDF in our Resource Hub. I’ll include a link to them in our Sunday e-blast too.
You can watch the entire webinar below. Please feel free to share with your fellow board members.
