Just when you think you’re safe.

Authorities are investigating a vehicle crash that damaged three townhome units and caused a gas leak in a Woodbury neighborhood Saturday night.

Channel 5 Eyewitness News on KSTP TV reported today that a “small SUV” ran into and damaged three townhomes, eventually coming to a rest in the third home. The crash into the third townhome struck a gas line, causing a leak, requiring residents to evacuate. Looking this up in ATLAS HOA, our mapping software, it appears this happened at The Lodges at the Preserve in Woodbury, an HOA.

“I didn’t see anything right away but when I came out with my neighbors…I could see that there was a house that was bashed into and that the car was even farther than the original crash site and there was even more damage down the street,” resident Francesca Gareri told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.

Then there was an evacuation.

“You could hear the gas hissing, and so they were telling people to get out of the area because they were worried that if there was any kind of spark, it could explode and the whole neighborhood would be leveled; the smell was intense,” Michelle Sobaski said.

Apparently Xcel Energy shut off the gas and everyone got to return, except the owners of the impacted townhomes. We hope everyone is ok. No condition reported on the driver.

We recently conducted a Pop Up Survey that revealed what kinds of damage were being caused by homeowners in HOAs over the past two years. Vehicular impacts were mentioned 20% of the time. This certainly qualifies. You can watch the Channel 5 report HERE.
